What is the next step in human evolution?
Albert Einstein said, humanity "is now moving into the third phase of religious experience: cosmic religion." The late John Lewis wrote in his Farewell letter the week he died to the younger generation and said one thing that is important is to know the wisdom of those who went before us.
Two ancestral spiritual giants from our past, Thomas Aquinas and Julian of Norwich, make excellent guides into this third phase of spirituality, that of "cosmic religion." Indeed, Aquinas said, "the greatness of the human person consists in this: that we are capable of the universe." And Julian of Norwich, who lived through the greatest pandemic in European history, the bubonic plague, had a celebrated experience of seeing a glowing round ball the size of a hazelnut in her hand and asked: "What is this thing?" and the reply was: "It is everything that is created...and it endures because God loves it."
Come to this workshop and be inspired and grounded in a deep spirituality that honors the earth, incorporates the universe, and prepares us to act in ways that center and ground us for the challenging work that lies ahead for our species and for our planet. Matthew Fox's most recent books are The Tao of Thomas Aquinas: Fierce Wisdom for Hard Times and Julian of Norwich: Wisdom in a Time of Pandemic...and Beyond.

About Matthew Fox
Rev. Matthew Fox, PhD, author, theologian, and activist priest, has been calling people of spirit and conscience into the Creation Spirituality lineage for over 50 years. His 38 books, lectures, retreats, and innovative education models have ignited an international movement to awaken people to be mystics and prophets, contemplative activists, who honor and defend the earth and work for justice.
Seeking to establish a new pedagogy for learning spirituality that was grounded in an effort to reawaken the West to its own mystical traditions in such figures as Hildegard of Bingen, Meister Eckhart, and the mysticism of Thomas Aquinas, as well as interacting with contemporary scientists who are also mystics, Fox founded the University of Creation Spirituality.
His recent projects include Order of the Sacred Earth and Daily Meditations as well as the Cosmic Mass. A forthcoming book in October is Julian of Norwich: Wisdom in at Time of Pandemic—and Beyond. His most recent book is The Tao of Thomas Aquinas: Fierce Wisdom for Hard Times. Other books include Original Blessing, The Coming of the Cosmic Christ, A Spirituality Named Compassion, The Reinvention of Work, Christian Mystics. www.matthewfox.org. www.dailymeditationswithmatthewfox.org
